What is an A.A.S. Degree? How can it help me?
Getting your A.A.S. degree means potentially increasing the number of job opportunities available to you, and more importantly, increase the amount of pay you would receive compared to just getting your diploma.

Does an A.A.S. Degree pay more money in the job market?

The median weekly wages for those with an associate degree is about 18% higher than that of high school graduates. Over the length of a career, that can really add up.

How long does it take to complete my degree?

It takes about 2 years to complete you A.A.S. degree compared to a diploma program, which is usually about 15 months.

Is getting my degree worth it?

The current economy in Hawaii favors workers with some training beyond just a high school diploma.  The share of good jobs for people with associate’s degrees has been rising steadily over the past 25 years.

Does it cost a lot more?

Not really.  Associates degree programs will cost a little more since there’s more training involved, but you can potentially see a salary increase because you have your associate’s degree which makes it worth it.

    Student Testimonials

“I was forced to venture way out of my comfort zone at HMC, and in doing so, I feel like I have become stronger, in terms of being able to interact with people (peers, staff, and later on, patients) and not only dealing with very difficult situations but doing so in a professional manner. I am now equipped with skills that are useful to me.”

    Britny Yamato

HMC gave me the tools and education I needed to find the job best suited for me. The Staff really do care for students as individuals. I am probably one of the hardest student to deal with because I didn’t know how to shut up at times. I definitely learned to be more well rounded and to care for others more. At HMC I had to learn to accept others for who they are. I learned that how you see others may not always resonate with them, but eventually, I learned that people will trust and accept me that way as well. Thanks HMC Staff!!

    Shelly Ibau Odaol

I am so thankful for my degree because it allows me to not only provide for my family but it also allows me to save lives. I am so thankful for what HMC has taught me and without HMC, my future in the healthcare field wouldn’t be as bright as it is now.
